INTERHOUSE MASTERMIND
This year, we will be running an interhouse competition based on classic British game shows. First up is Mastermind.
What is Mastermind?
Mastermind was the idea of TV producer Bill Wright, a former RAF gunner, who drew on his wartime experience as a Prisoner of War in Germany of answering three questions - name, rank and number - to create the ‘Mastermind’ ritual of contestants being asked their name, occupation and specialist subject.
The game is simple. Four contenders compete against each other - and the clock - to earn the most points.
Each contender is quizzed firstly for two minutes on the Specialist Subject of their choice, and then - in Round Two - a further two minutes and thirty seconds on their General Knowledge.
What do I need to do?
First, you need to choose your specialist subject from the list below. You will answer questions on this subject in round one.
Once you've decided on your specialist subject, you will need to read the information given on your subject and learn it. Use the quizzes provided, ask your friends and family to test you, find ways to rewrite the information in a way that will help you to remember it. We will not ask you anything that is not in the information pack. Packs will be available online on AHS Reads from September 16th.
We have limited the subjects so that we can be sure the playing field is level - everyone has access to the same information, and everyone will be asked the same questions.
What about the general knowledge round?
All the general knowledge questions will be based on the KS3 information provided for the different subjects you study at Aylsham High School. It is all information that you will have come across in your school life, or that you might know already. The information is all here on the Masterminds Reads page for you to refresh your memory, and there are quizzes and discussion questions to help you practise at home.
How do I enter Mastermind?
Once you have decided you would like to take part, you can sign up for the first round competition below. The first rounds will be held between the 18th November and 13th December, during form times, in the new Millenium meeting room.
If you go through to the second round, you will be invited to compete in January for a place in the finals, to take place in February 2025 on stage.
