On Wednesday 9th March Mrs Durand and some of the Aylsham High School teachers took the whole of year 9 to Norfolk Show Ground to a careers and jobs fair. Here are some student reflections from the event.
At the careers fair, I experienced many different stands that had their own unique offerings. There were stalls that sold food for you to try, and some stalls that had very fun experiences. I think the fair was really fun because you could get free things and talk to many different businesses about your interests. There were many jobs, from being a farmer all the way to designing virtual reality headsets. The hairdressing stand was very popular - people had their hair curled or straightened. It was a great experience as you could try different equipment - I learnt how to hold a gun with the police!
In my opinion, they could have changed a couple of things such as having a one-way system, and giving microphones to the people on the stalls so that they could be heard more easily. Overall, a great morning, thank you to Mrs Durand our careers adviser. - Kelsie Sewell.

At the careers fair, I got to try the VR, which was a rollercoaster. It actually felt like a real rollercoaster, it was really steep. I am not particularly looking to work in technology but it was definitely fun to try it out. I would have liked to see some bricklaying activities, but I did get to drive a tractor on a simulator and learnt about gears - Jack Hawkes.
There were lots of little stalls up inside the building with different job opportunities and ideas such as mechanics, police, and catering. There were lots of activities such as food tasting - lots of us had pizza. It was a great experience for everyone to see what jobs are out there and what they could get into. I think if there were slightly fewer people I could have seen even more - it was so busy, but that's a good thing! - Bethany Foster.
There was a whole mix of things from hair and beauty to the RAF. There were a few stalls that I particularly liked (the food stalls and the law stalls) which were interesting and at times delicious. I really enjoyed seeing the variety and range of job opportunities and not forgetting the free items from different companies! Overall it was a really great trip that gave us lots to think about. - Alice Lattaway.
I thought the careers fair was really interesting. I held a snake that was part of the veterinary college stall - I was worried it was going to poo on me but it didn't. The helper did say it might - but I was lucky. There were lots of simulators; the tractor one was really interesting and it was good to see that agriculture is not just about driving a tractor and it's bigger than just farmers and potatoes. I would have liked to have seen some more engineering - if we had more time I would have gone to find some. - Lexie Barker.
